Joyce Fay Sammons

Joyce Fay Sammons, 71, of Jonesboro, passed from this life Saturday, April 6, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Place. She was born July 5, 1947 in Dallas, TX to the late Dalton and Evelyn Mashburn.

A longtime resident of Jonesboro, Joyce loved spending time with her family. She also loved animals, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and watching old movies, especially Shirley Temple movies.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by a sister, Jean McGinnis.

Joyce is survived by her son, Jerry (Ann) Sammons of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Tina Sammons And Laura Sammons both of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Alisa Bryant, Alisey Washington, Mya Sammons, Eli Cummings, Malaki Washington, Kobe Washington, Bryson Washington all of Jonesboro; brothers, Mike (Betty) Mashburn of Little Rock, Gary Mashburn of Little Rock and Tommy Mashburn of Jonesboro and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 from 9-10 am in the Emerson Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will follow the visitation at 10 am Friday, April 12, 2019 in the Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Rock Hill Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Rick McGinnis, Chris McGinnis, Johnny Hazelwood and Jeremy Balew.
