Joyce Mccarty

Joyce McCarty, 75, of Bono passed from this life on Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was born to the late Tommy and Amy Griffin on February 12, 1942 in Jonesboro. Joyce was a people person and loved talking and visiting with anyone she would meet. She really enjoyed her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Joyce was a member of Big Creek Valley Missionary Baptist Church and worked for Frolic Footwear and Coca Cola. She enjoyed baking cakes also and that led to her working for a wedding planner and making wedding cakes for the weddings. In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Joyce is survived by her husband Michael McCarty of Bono; sons, Bobby Wheeley (Mary) of Jonesboro and David Wheeley (Connie) of Cuero, Texas; daughter, Debbie Greenway (Rick) of Evening Shade; brothers, Clifton Griffin and Ray Griffin; and sister, Corene Wheeley. Joyce also leaves behind nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday January 8, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Tommy Wheeley, Buddy Wheeley, Johnny Wheeley, BJ Wheeley, Matt Wheeley and JD McGregor. The honorary pallbearer will be Dennis Bruce.
