Joyce Lanada Elder

Joyce Elder, 88, of Jonesboro, formerly of Brookland passed away July 2, 2019 at Community Compassion Center. She was born September 17, 1930 in Trumann to the late Curtis and Wilma Crain. Joyce was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing yard work, especially gardening and working in her flower beds. Joyce also enjoyed traveling and arts and crafts. She most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Elder; 2 brothers, Gerald “Buddy” Crain, Ronald Edward Crain and 2 sisters, Doris Nadine Crain and Vickey Charlotte Crain.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Craig (Arista) Elder of Chicago, Illinois, Collin (Marcia) Elder of Jonesboro, Chris (Jennifer) Elder of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; 2 brothers, Ralph “Sonny” (Nancy) Crain and Martin “Marty” (Donna) Crain both of Brookland; 2 sisters, Nina (Ben) Nelms of Murrieta, California, Marilyn Monk of Jefferson City, Missouri; 5 grandchildren: Nathanial Elder, Micah (Rhyne) Putman, Bryan Elder, Sarah (Ed) Jacoberger, Hannah Elder and 4 great grandchildren, Ben Putman, Anne Kathryn Putman, Ava Jacoberger, and Emma Jean Jacoberger.

Graveside service will be Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10:00 am at Pine Log Cemetery with Dr. Rhyne Putman officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
