Joyce Ann Brewer

Joyce Ann Brewer, 71, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, at St. Elizabeth’s Place, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 3, 1953, in Jonesboro to the late M.G. and Helen Culbreath, Joyce grew up in Lunsford and graduated from Bay High School. She was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church during her early years.

On March 31, 1989, Joyce married the love of her life, Tommy Brewer. She dedicated 19 years to Frolic Footwear and an additional 19 years of service to Jonesboro Public Schools where she retired. Joyce cherished spending time with her grandchildren, solving puzzles, and playing games. In her later years, she became an active member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Roger Parnell, Wayne Waters, and Charlie Willett; and her nephew, Matt Parnell.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Tommy Brewer; her children, Scott Taylor, Chadda Meagher and her husband Paul, Charles Brewer, and her "baby girl" Lindsey Brewer West and husband Ryan.; her sisters Lawanda Waters and Carolyn Parnell and sister in laws, Donna Brewer, Karen Willett and Vicki Stoddard and husband Chad; her cherished grandchildren, Cody, Jordan, Jade, Hunter, Haley, Macy, Justiss, Carly, Juri, Scarlett, Lennox, and Jayce; and five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and  loved ones that mourn her passing.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Chuck Fitzgerald.

Active pallbearers will include Charles Brewer, Ryan West, Tony Parnell, Jordan Richard, Hunter Brewer, Justiss Meagher, Trey Kolmer and Roger Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Taylor, Paul Meagher, Cody Taylor, Robert Penny and the men of Faith Free Will Baptist Church

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) or the NEA Family Crisis Center.
