Joy Kay Gibbons, 70, of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. She was born on May 4, 1955 in Millington, Tennessee to Johnny Delashmit and Martha “Grace” (Williams) Delashmit.

A longtime resident of Jonesboro, Joy worked as a bookkeeper in the family business, J. Gibbons Construction. She was of the Baptist belief and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. What brought Joy the most happiness was spending time with her family, especially her children and beloved grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Gibbons and brothers, Terry and Ricky Delashmit.

Joy is survived by her children, Katie Gibbons, Jeff (Teresa) Gibbons, Lane Gibbons, and Lisa (David) Robinson; sister, Janice Hall; grandchildren, Austin Gibbons, Jaxon Gibbons, Callan Gibbons, Lyla Sanders, and Jessica Rayburn; and great-granddaughter, Delaney Rayburn.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Bryce King officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland.
