Joseph Jermaine Peel, 37, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Friday, April 22, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born to Joseph Burnett Jr. and Debra McCurn on September 24, 1984 in Jonesboro. Joseph graduated from Nettleton high School in 2003, attended ASU for a year and a half,  and attended church at The Rock of Jonesboro. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, playing dominos, and going to the casino. Joseph enjoyed life to the fullest and loved spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Burnett Jr.; brother, Abdule Booker; grandparents, Mabel Ellison, Robert Smiley, Joseph Burnett Sr., ad Bertha Rea Burnett; uncles, Paul Edward Peel, Billy Joe Peel, Fred Peel, Columbus Burnett, and Napoleon Burnett; auntie, Doris Reed; and step-father, Jimmy McCurn.

Joseph is survived by his mother, Debra McCurn of Jonesboro; brothers, Timothy Peel of Jonesboro and Joseph Booker (Latrice) of Chicago; sisters, Catrina Booker of Chicago, Eula Goudy of Chicago, and Precious Ellis of Chicago; uncles, Charles Peel (Terrie), Robert Peel, Robert Smiley, Robert Burnett (Patricia), Ricky Smiley, George Box (Burma), Harold Rufus (Evelyn), and Booker Barnett; and aunties, Martha Davis, Samella Hill, Ruby Taylor, Mildred Barnett, Juanita Browning (Gary), Theressa Keener, Roberta Harshaw (Charles), Brenda Henderson (Walter), and Mildred Wilson.

The visitation will be held from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Emerson Funeral Home.

The service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Emerson Funeral Home with Rev. Cubie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Shannon Ray, Devaron Lamar Bowers, Fredrick Jiles, Andre Crite, Jerry Wright, and Alfred Mathis. The honorary pallbearers will be Keith Peel, Rodney Crite, Kowan Lasey, Demetreus Rufus, Keith Box, and Marshall Williams.
