Joseph James Monroe, 59, of Bay passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born in Jonesboro on October 21, 1962, he was the last child born to John Ward and Janis Monroe, who preceded him death.
A 1981 graduate of Nettleton High school, he attended Arkansas State University and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. While he farmed most of his life, he was an employee of Craighead County for many years.
Joe is survived by his wife, Tonya Monroe, his children, Jacob (Jamie) Monroe; Kristie (Josh) Morris; Janna (Wade) Hamilton; Gavin (Amber) Combs; Garrett (Bonnie) Combs; Aaron (Morgan) Winningham; Mattie (Trevor) Blasingame; his grandchildren, Malcolm Monroe, Lillian Scales, Harleigh Monroe, Hailey Morris, Dominick Morris, Jep Hamilton, Case Hamilton, Hadlee Hamilton, Grant Winningham, Lenox Winningham, Brayden Blasingame, and Elleigh Blasingame.
He is also survived by his sister, Diana Monroe (Rondal Green) and his brother, John Scott Monroe as well as many friends and family who loved him.
The family will receive visitors at a graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Danny Russell officiating.
Persons wishing to leave a lasting gift in Joe’s memory may drop off a donation at Southern Bancorp (c/o Aaron Winningham and Mattie Blasingame) to provide long term care for Tonya Monroe.
