Joseph Gregory Brown, 78, of Jonesboro, Arkansas died peacefully October 6, 2026 at Monette Manor Nursing Home. Joe was born in Louisville KY on April 19, 1948 to his parents, Edgar and Ora Burch Brown. He lived his early years in Shelbyville, Indiana where he graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and Purdue University. He was well known in the 1980s and 1990s in Shelbyville and Franklin, IN as owner and operator of Pizza King franchises and bars. His family described him as a handsome, gregarious, and stylish man whom was always well liked. He loved collecting cars, motorcycles, and guns. In his final months, several memories were still vivid- which Harley Davidson of many was his favorite, remembering his red Corvette Z-71 and Shelby Cobra, and recounting his days on Lake Monroe in Bloomington, IN or the Ohio River boating with his daughters and brother, Jerry Brown, who predeceased him.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Morrison Brown, of Jonesboro; his daughters, Courtney Fisch (Sam) of West Palm Beach, FL, and Whitney White of Indianapolis, IN; his granddaughters Marley, Lennon and Dylan Fisch; his grandson, Knox Carroll; his sister, Barbara Finney (John) of Lees Summitt, MO; his niece, Belinda Thompson and his nephew, Michael Finney. He is also survived by his step children, Matt (Alison) and Michael (Kimberly) Morrison, Meredith (Justin) Wills, all of Jonesboro and their children, Jackson, Maddox, and Jake Morrison; Jillian (Austin) Courtney and their daughter, Charlotte; and Jace & Madyn Wills.
Joe and Jan met in 2011, married in 2012 and lived in West Palm Beach, FL, until moving back to Jonesboro in 2015. During their marriage, they traveled and enjoyed every day together. They learned to love each other’s children and grandchildren. Joe was known as Poppy to his grands and Joe Joe to Jan’s. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Jonesboro Country Club where he enjoyed golf until his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2018. His family will always be grateful to the administration and staff at Monette Manor. The compassion and care he was given was above and beyond. According to Joe’s wishes, there will be no service but if you loved him, please raise a toast to a life well lived.
