Johnny Allen Gross, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Memphis. Johnny was born to the late John Lewis and Ruby Dee Allen Gross on August 9, 1944 in Lafayette, Tennessee. He has resided in Jonesboro since 1974 after spending a brief time in Jackson, Tennessee. Johnny also attended Valley Ridge Baptist Church.

Johnny was an avid fisherman who was a life time member of the Elks Lodge Post #498. Johnny received his Bachelors Degree from Middle Tennessee State University and he retired as a terminal manager for Roadway Express. He also enjoyed horse racing as his favorite hobby and most of all Johnny loved spending time with his grandkids.

In addition to his parents, John Lewis and Ruby Dee Allen Gross, Johnny is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Gross.

Johnny is survived by his daughter: Stacey (Tanner) Kelley of Jonesboro; brother: Wayne Gross of Nashville, Tennessee; and two grandchildren: Kadence and Kinsley Kelley.

A visitation will be from 1 – 2 pm Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2pm Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home with Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Dr. Michael Tedder, Tom Tull, Eddie Oates, Bill Caldwell, John Gross, Phillip Bransford, Keith Ballou, Larry Welty, and Randy Johnson.
