Johnny R. Emmons, 88, a life-long resident of Jonesboro, went to his Heavenly reward on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born on August 20, 1937, in Maynard, Arkansas to A.D. and Jessie Emmons. He was the owner/operator of Emmons Poultry. He served his country in the US Army National Guard and served during the Berlin Crisis and the desegregation of Central High School in Little Rock in 1957. He was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Emmons, Dwain Emmons; sisters, Wilma Counts, Juanita Reeder, Louise Talley, Laverne Fears, and Janice Fisher.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Pat Emmons, of the home; son, David Emmons (Page Dickerson); daughter, Debbie Rae Craig (Mike); brother, Eddie Emmons (Virginia); sister, Sharon Kay Roedel (Bobby), all of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Brandon Craig (Bridgette), Jonathan Craig (Joy), Brooke Pruett (Kyle); great grandchildren, Emma Claire Pruett, Ellie Kate Pruett, Kale Cossey, Pierce Craig, Eli Craig, Carson Craig, Carlee Harrison (Cameron); and great great grandchild, Hallie Harrison.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with Grey Falanga officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 at Emerson Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Brandon Craig, Jonathan Craig, Alan Lawson, Pierce Craig, Eli Craig, Kale Cossey, Carson Craig and Kyle Pruett. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
