Johnny W. Cook, 50, of Jonesboro departed his life Tuesday, November 27, 2018. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 10, 1968 to Johnny and Joan Cook, but lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was of the Baptist belief. When he was 14 he began racing alongside his dad and continued throughout doing what he loved “racing”. Johnny was an IMCA Champion four out of five years and a dirt track champion. Johnny Wayne was a people person who was loved by so many and who never met a stranger. He would stand for hours having a conversation with his racing buddies and family. Working on motors and building cars alongside his dad was his biggest passion in life. Johnny is preceded in death by his mom, Joan Cook.
Johnny is survived by his dad, Johnny Cook and 2 nd mom, Diana Cook; sisters, Angela Murray and Kerry of Jonesboro, Renee Greer and Michelle McCloud of Bono; daughter, Amanda Ward and Charlie of Walnut Ridge; grandchildren, Olivia and Addilyn Joan, and Logan Lee of Little Rock; nieces and nephews, Zachary Casey and Stella of Jonesboro, Alexandrea Murray and Aaron of Brookland, Timothy Murray and Lexi of Jonesboro, Dani McCloud of Jonesboro, Nicholas and Ryan McCloud of Bono, Matthew and Tyra Murray and Children of Cabot, Marice and Justus Murray and children of Paragould; great niece, Avalynn (Spark Plug); and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Adcox officiating. Burial will be private. The honorary pallbearers will be Jon Gray, Jeremy Russell, Michael Gifford, Scott Crites, Allen Fike, Terry Clause (TC), and Paul Tribble.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to ShareHope or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
