Johnny Lynn Burns

Johnny Lynn Burns, 65, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born to the late John Wesley and Rubye Burns in Walnut Ridge on November 4, 1951. Johnny lived his entire life in the Jonesboro area.

He was a 1969 Westside High School graduate and then graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Upon retiring from the Social Security Administration, Johnny enjoyed substitute teaching at Hoxie High School. Throughout Johnny’s life he was very interested in history and archeology. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Burns, and brother in law, Lawrence Faulkner.

Johnny is survived by his daughter, Misti (Brent) Weaver of Jonesboro; son, Erin (Stacey) Burns of Maumelle, Arkansas; one sister, Carolyn Faulkner, of Jonesboro; six grandchildren: Gage Weaver, Brentlee Weaver and Callie Weaver all of Jonesboro; Carsyn Burns, Emma Burns and Drew Burns all of Maumelle; 4 nephews, Randy Myers, Tristan Myers, Dakotah Burns, Miche Burns and 1 niece Shannon Burns.


Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday, October 1st at Emerson Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be private.
