Johnnie Walter Putt Iii

Johnnie Walter Putt III, of Jonesboro, passed away on March 14, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 27, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Johnnie Walter Putt II and Priscilla Cullison. John was born in Chicago, his family then moved to Cash, AR where he grew up. He was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church.

He was a die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs being in St. Louis Cardinal Country and a proud member of the Harley Davidson owners’ group, John found joy in many aspects of life. Above all, he loved his time watching his daughter, Addyson, play basketball and volleyball. John is a United States Army Veteran, while spending time in Korea and Iraq.

He eventually moved to Jonesboro and attended Westside Schools and transferred to Valley View where he graduated in 1989. He recently completed his bachelor’s and master's degrees in biblical studies through Colorado Christian University. He had applied to begin the Doctorate program at Luther Rice College & Seminary in August.

John was preceded in death by both parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Shelly Putt, of the home; his daughter, Addyson Gairin Putt of Jonesboro; his sister, Elizabeth Huggins of Bradenton, FL; and his loyal German Shepherd service dog, Rizzo.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Emerson Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Johnny Hutchison and Dr. Jace Tubbs. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Adam Bloom, Mylo Ball, Dr. Calvin White, Mario Williams, Chad Yancy, and Larry Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Valley View Intermediate Basketball and Volleyball dads, Terry Long, Timmy Thompson, Mark St. George, Doug Morris, and Jim McCaslin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to We Are The 22: An Arkansas Veteran Suicide Intervention Team, P.O. Box 241391, Little Rock, Arkansas 72223 or Highland Drive Baptist Church.
