Johnie Oneal Minick, 82, a long-time resident of Bay, died Saturday morning in the Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born in Big Flat, Johnie Oneal moved to Bay in 1932 and lived much of his life in the Bay area. He was retired from Singer Manufacturing in Trumann and was a member of Central Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Johnie Oneal was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Artillery, and was an avid collector of music albums and records.
Johnie Oneal enjoyed gardening and deer hunting, and was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Clara Lawrence Minick, by two brothers, Orphas Minick and Lavon Minick, and by two sisters, Emma Lee Lawson and Georgia Veteto.
Survivors include one brother, Leon Minick of Bono, one sister, Kathryn Sue Minick of Walnut Ridge, and several nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in Pine Log Cemetery with Rev. William R. Whitlock officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 12 noon until 1:15 at Emerson Funeral Home.
