John H. White, 53, of Jonesboro died Sunday at his home. He was a retired millwright and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters/Joiners of America, Local 1043. A 1972 graduate of Jonesboro High School, he had lived much of his adult life in other states, moving back to Jonesboro 3 years ago to care for his mother the last years of her life. John attended ASU for a period of time, loved playing dominoes and chess, and enjoyed fishing with his son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Charles & Genevieve Harris White.
He is survived by his son, Chris White, Logansport, IN; daughter, Amanda White, Layfayette, IN; brother and sister-in-law, David & Sharon White, Huntsville, AL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Anne & Johnny Rickman, Nancy & Johnny Blaxton, all of Jonesboro, Jonell White, Searcy, Rebecca & Jay Smith, Pleasant Plains, AR; grandson, Reece McKenzie; his former wife and mother of his children, Julie White Hipsher, Logansport, IN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Milton Harbison officiating. Emerson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
