John Walter Warner Jr.

August 2, 1934 — May 9, 2006

John Walter Warner, Jr., 71, of Jonesboro died Tuesday evening at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mr. Warner moved to Jonesboro 30 years ago moving from San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. At his church, Mr. Warner was a member of Master Men, the choir, and was a Sunday School teacher. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Good Sam’s Club of NEA and was the chaplain for the Northeast Arkansas Travelers of the Sam’s Club of NEA.

Mr. Warner is survived by his wife, Mary Warner, his sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Tammy Rolfe and Frank and Suzanne Martin all of Jonesboro. He is also survived by a sister, Irene Binkley of Ravenden and grandchildren, Chanley Purtteman, Holly Purtteman, Mathieu Martin, Anthony Martin, and Quincey Martin, and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Walter Sr. and Velma Murphy Warner and a sister, Delois Twombly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Winningham and Bro. Warner Allen officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Chanley Purtteman, Larry Dulaney, Paul E. Bean, Willis Gardner, Charles Wiggs, Pat Mitchner, Anthony Martin, and John Easley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Reggie Allen, Martin Allen, and Master Men at Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be made to the American Lung Association 61 Broadway,6th Floor, New York, New York 10006, Special Olympics or a charity of your choice.
