John Robert Tucker, 71, of Jonesboro, AR made the journey to his eternal home with his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 29, 2016. He was at home with family after a lengthy illness.
John was born on November 5, 1944 in Ohio to the late Richard Lee and Katie Belle Reynolds Tucker. He lived most of his life in Michigan before moving to Jonesboro in 2010. He earned his degree in Vocal Music from Harding University, where he met and married the love of his life, Brenda. After college he served as band and choir director at Buckeye Central High School in Ohio before transitioning to a long career in insurance and real estate services. A lifelong member of the church, he was most recently a member of the Grace Point Church of Christ, where he served as an elder. He was passionately involved in the Lord’s work in India since 1980 and traveled there almost yearly since 1994. He enjoyed singing, gardening, golfing, and many other sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Brenda; one daughter, Monica DenBraber and her husband Lee of Peoria, IL; one son, John Tucker and his wife Laura of Trinidad, CO; one brother, Richard Tucker and his wife Carolyn of Little Rock, AR. He has four grandchildren: Melody and Lee DenBraber of Peoria, IL, and Emily and Ethan Tucker of Trinidad, CO.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. John’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with David Gibson officiating and the interment to follow at Pine Log Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is overseeing all arrangements. Memorials in John’s name may be made to the Grace Point Church of Christ Building Fund.
