John Roy Stewart

John Roy Stewart, 66, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Monday, November 15, 2021 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born to Jennings and Dorothy Stewart on January 17, 1955 in Newport. John was of the Baptist Faith and attended Philadelphia Baptist Church with his wife, Paulette. He was a law enforcement officer for 25 years serving many communities in Jackson County. After retiring from law enforcement, John began a second career at Williamson Motor Company as a salesman. John loved being outdoors, especially in the Mountain Home area. He loved fishing, camping, restoring cars, and spending time with his family. John is preceded in death by his parents, Jennings and Dorothy Stewart.

John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Paulette Stewart of the home; sons, Anthony Poe (Gail) of Tuckerman and Bryan Poe (Brittney) of Jonesboro; brothers, Van Stewart (Rhonda) of Nashville, Tennessee and David Stewart (Debbie) of Newport; and sisters, Ellen Tarno of Newport, Ann Turner (Mike) of Newport, and Susan Jones (Robert) of Amory, Mississippi. John also leaves behind eight grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home with George Williamson officiating. The family will receive guests after the memorial service.
