John William Quinn Iii

June 29, 1959 — November 5, 2007

John William Quinn III, 48, of Bay, went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 5, 2007 at the NEA Baptist Medical Hospital in Jonesboro.

John was born in Rockford, Illinois, a 1977 graduate of Nettleton High School and lived in Bay for 27 years. He was a service technician for Dana Corporation in Jonesboro. John was a charter member and Music Director of the New Life Baptist Church in Bay. John was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and served Southern Baptist Churches for more than twenty years in music ministry, bible teaching, and mission emphasis. John graduated in 2005 with a degree in Digital Electronics from ASU-Marked Tree. He served during the Cold War as a First Lieutenant in the 875th Army National Guard in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

Survived by his loving wife of 28 years: Linda Stroud Quinn of the home.

One son: Matthew David Quinn of the home.

Two daughters: Nichole Avery and son-in-law David of Millington, Tennessee. Andrea Huffine and son-in-law Tim “Tiny” of Paragould, Arkansas.

Parents: John William Quinn II and Martha Walker Quinn of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Maternal Grandmother: Ruth Walker of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

One sister: Cameo Watkins and brother-in-law Jonny Boy of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Funeral service is at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 9, 2007 at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Mark Rutherford and Rev. Ken Brown officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of the arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Quinn, David Avery, Tim “Tiny” Huffine, Jonny Boy Watkins, Jim Dedman, Mike Bennett, Robert Mitchell, and Daine Bennett.

Honorary pallbearers will be J. Hardy Little III, Ken Thomas, Adam Brown, Andrew Brown, Aaron Brown, Ross Hannah, and Jimmy Sefers.

Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
