John Larry Moore

July 8, 1934 — January 3, 2017

John Larry Moore, 82, of Batesville, Arkansas passed away surrounded by his family on January 3, 2017. He was born July 8, 1934 in Parsons, Tennessee to John and Helen (Thompson) Moore. He graduated from Bono High School and attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He was a Tom’s Peanut Distributor for 33 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville. He and his family enjoyed many days camping and fishing on Greers Ferry Lake. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Razorback sports, gardening, feeding birds, grilling and growing sunflowers and zinnias.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda Lee (Pfeifer) Moore. His daughters, Karen (Ty) Tosh of Jonesboro; Sandy (Tommy) Chastain of Drasco and Kathy Wham of Mountain Home; his son, John David Moore of Batesville and two special granddaughters, Victoria and Olivia Wham of Mountain Home; two sisters, Joyce Bibb of Munford, Tennessee; Mary (Jimmy) Lincoln of Jonesboro. He also leaves behind many nieces, Nephews and lifelong friends he will forever cherish.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Daniel Moore; parents, sister, Doris Barton; and son-in-law, John Wham.

Graveside service will be 1:30 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Trinity Cemetery with Glendal McMullin officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 12-1 at Emerson Funeral Home. The family wants to thank Arkansas Hospice and his caregivers, Faye Wallis, Sharon Scott, Terry Collins and Gail Harmon.
