John M. Baxter Sr.

John M. Baxter Sr., died Saturday night, June 23, 2012, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1995, moving here from Corning. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. He was a past president of the Corning Lion’s Club. John was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Baxter, his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his children, John Michael Baxter, Jr. of San Diego, California; Ginger Monroy of San Francisco; Keith Baxter and his wife Tonda of Jonesboro; Quintin Baxter and wife Jeannie of Norman, Oklahoma; siblings, Jack Ivy, Lucy Brock, Sherry Peace all of Donalsonville, Georgia; grandchildren, Nicholas Johnston and wife Jessica, Ty Baxter and Maya Monroy; great grandchildren, Haven Downs and Ayden Edwards.

A memorial service will be 6:00 P.M. Wednesday night, June 27, 2012 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Patty Soward officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 5:00 Wednesday until service time.
