John L. Sheets, 79, of Trumann, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Trumann, John lived all of his life in Trumann other than his military career. He was a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant with over 20 years of active duty and was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War.
John enjoyed hunting and fishing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents: George L. and Ola Spain Sheets, and by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include:
1 son, Marshell H. Sheets of Parker, Colorado;
3 brothers: William (Bill) Sheets of Jonesboro, Don Sheets of Sprindale and Frank Sheets of Prescott;
1 sister, Alice McCain of Walcott;
2 grandsons: Jacob Sheets and Nathan Sheets; and
Several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, April 21, 2009, at 10:30 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
