John H. Greer died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, Arkansas where he had been a patient for four years and three months. He was 86 years old. He was a farmer and owned and operated a grocery store and Mobil station at Winesburg for a number of years.
He was born in White County but had lived in Jonesboro most of his life, with the last twelve-years in Trumann. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bill Greer, two brothers, three sisters and a beloved grandson, Andy.
He leaves behind his wife Lucille, two sons, John Ed Greer and wife Betty, Frank Greer and wife Carol, two daughters, Mary Alice Swindle and husband Bill, and Lorene Bailey, one sister, Belvie Dunlap. He has eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held Monday at Unity Cemetery at Bono with Reverend Edward Pruitt officiating. There will also be a private family viewing with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. To sign an online guest book, go to www.emersonfuneralhome.com.
