John Frasier Ashby, 89, of Augusta, died June 26, 2013 at his home. Born in Bradford to Harry & Sarah Brimm Ashby, he was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Augusta. He lived a rich, full life and loved working in his garden and his daily visits to the coffee shop to discuss current events or simply sitting on his porch watching the hummingbirds or visiting with neighbors. Frasier was an avid sports fan and loved his dog, Daisy. He was an award winning dancer at the Senior Citizens Center. He loved his family and they loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Frasier is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen Ashby of the home; his children, John Calvin (Debbie) Ashby, Pleasant Plains, Larry (Stacy) Ashby, Augusta, Phyllis Wofford, Jonesboro; 8 grandchildren, Greg (Joe Ann) Ashby, Troy (Kim) Ashby, Michael Ashby, Jessica (Kendall) King, Matt (Rebecca) Wofford, Jeremy (Emily) Ashby, Sarah Wofford, Micah Ashby; 10 great grandchildren, Destiny (Andrew) Fraley, Landon Ashby, Tyler Ashby, Nikka Ashby, Emmett Ashby, Trace Ashby, Owen Ashby, Isaac Ashby, Elsie Ashby, Waylon King; one great great grandchild, Brenton Fraley; 2 brothers, A.L. and Leroy Ashby; and his sister, Nellie Richardson.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Rhodes & Sons Funeral Home in Augusta with Pastor Eddie Meharg and Jeremy Ashby officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Greg Ashby, Troy Ashby, Michael Ashby, Jeremy Ashby, Matt Wofford, and Kendall King.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Friday at Rhodes & Sons Funeral Home.
