Jonesboro - Mr. John L. Fowler, 75, of Jonesboro passed away Thursday, January 02, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. John was born on January 26, 1938 in Strangers Home, Arkansas, and had lived in West Memphis and resided in Jonesboro since 1982. He was a retired bailiff for the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department and a store manager for Fred P. Gattas for 26 years. John was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a people person and loved serving and giving to those in need. Mr. Fowler loved his family deeply and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Eunice Fowler.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Loyce of the home, two daughters, Karen (Greg) Holland
of Brighton, TN, and Lisa Crouch (Bobby) of Jonesboro, AR ; one son, Stephen (Kim) Fowler of
Jonesboro, AR; four grandchildren, Kristin (Kevin) Franklin, Brittany (Ray) Lopez, Garrett
Holland, Kelsey Crouch, Logan Fowler, and Allison Fowler; four great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Helen Owens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Joyce Drew of Marion, Illinois; four brothers, Powell (Sheila) Fowler of West Memphis, Arkansas, Gary (Carolyn) Fowler of Hoxie, David (Karen) Fowler of Walnut Ridge, and Dennis (Debbie) Fowler of Marion Arkansas, and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Martin and Bro. Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday January 4, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Harold Foley, Ken Bullard, Todd Emison, Aaron Hathcock, Dale Lipford, and Harold W. Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be the Agape Sunday School Class at Central Baptist Church.
No words can express our gratitude and love to all the countless people who help and were there for our family during John’s illness.
