John “J.C.” Craft, 88, of Jonesboro, died April 25, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was an elder and charter member of Highland Drive Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). JC also served as a Sunday school teacher and youth ministry leader.
JC loved to fish and traveled extensively. He was also committed to missions and was part of the interfaith group credited with the formation of The Helping Neighbor Food Pantry.
JC served bravely in the Army during World War II and was awarded a purple heart for his military service in the Philippines. He was active in the Civitan Club and served as president. He was also a Mason, serving as its Worshipful Master. He also worked with the Eastern Star.
JC is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Wood Craft and parents John Elbert Craft and Inez Moore Craft.
JC is survived by a son, John Craft and wife Paula of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Jonathan Hays and Jason Craft both of Jonesboro; a brother Bud Craft and wife Sue of Jonesboro; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Highland Drive Christian Church (DOC). Service celebration of his life will begin at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Debra A. Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
