Joe D. Tomlinson

Joe D. Tomlinson, 83, of Jonesboro went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 16, 2017 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born on July 19, 1933 in Blytheville, Arkansas to the late Virgil (Buck) and Lois Tomlinson. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1968 where he was a building inspector of 28 years for the City of Jonesboro and a member of the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission. Before that, he was a retired 20 year Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church. Serving the Lord and spending time with his family were the most important accomplishments in his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wives; Ann and Patricia Tomlinson, his brothers, Bill and Bobby Tomlinson, sister, Mamie Tomlinson and a daughter-in-law, Fran Tomlinson.

Survivors include his son, Joe E. Tomlinson (Julie) of Jonesboro. Daughters, Cindy Watson (Keith) of Wynne, Arkansas, Lesa Harris (Bill) of Jonesboro and Ashley Tomlinson of Kansas City, Missouri. One sister, Anne Tomlinson of Lee Summit, Missouri.
Grandchildren are Margaret Reyes (Ernesto), Maribeth Tomlinson, Daniel Knight, Andrew Knight, Kristen Watson, Alyssa Myers (Robby), Jacob Watson (Elizabeth) and Michael Harris (Becca) along with 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 19, 2017 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Michael Harris, Jacob Watson, Ernesto Reyes, Robby Myers, Mike Fletcher and Dan Spencer.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to the Nettleton Baptist Church Building Fund, 7001 E. Johnson Ave, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
