Joe Mack Irvin

November 4, 1931 — April 1, 2012

Joe Mack Irvin, 80, of Jonesboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 1, 2012. He was born November 4, 1931 to Mack Hillis & Vivian Holiday Irvin. He spent his whole life in the Jonesboro area. After retiring from the Arkansas State Highway Department, he started his own successful business; Irvin Gravel Company, where he continued to work until shortly before his death.

He had many friends and everyone he knew could easily spot him wearing his trademark blue denim shirt and ball cap. He loved his family, animals, westerns, meeting his friends at the coffee shop and he never passed up a good catfish dinner. He was also the most generous man, always willing to help anyone.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joan; the love of his life and best friend whom he described as the most beautiful woman he’d ever met; his parents, Mack Hillis & Vivian Holiday Irvin; two sisters, Maxine Johnson and Opal Spaminato; and two brothers, Jack Irvin and Gene (Bud) Irvin.

He is survived by his daughter Terri (Frank) Roth; son, Rick Irvin (Debbie Newberry); one brother, Tom Irvin; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Aliaun Sides. He was greatly loved and will be missed terribly.

No services are scheduled.
