Joann Russell

JoAnn Russell, 77, of Jonesboro passed away at Craighead Nursing Center on September 27, 2014. She was born September 1, 1937, to the late Gladys Brown King in Trumann, AR. JoAnn was a member of the New Harvest Family Worship Center. A woman of faith and the heart of the Russell family, Joanne shaped her families spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Her passion was singing and ministering to others. Over the years, she served as Sunday school leader, women’s ministry leader, and leading people through song. Her legacy will live on in the lives of all those she touched.

Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Brown King; stepfather, David D. King; Uncle Raymond Brown, aunt Clara Bell Brown; brother Dub (William) Brown; and one daughter, Lisa Annette Russell.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carl Eugene Russell, who she served alongside in ministry for 48 years. 3 sisters- Joyce Watts of Cherokee Village, Mary Lou Hopkins of Jonesboro, Rhonda Brown of Bay. 1 brother- JD & Lori Brown of Bay. 6 children- 3 daughters, Deborah & Rick Summers of Jonesboro, Lois Ann & Doug Jones of Jonesboro, Theresa & Rick Carter of Jonesboro. 3 sons- Lloyd Russell of Jonesboro, Tim & Tonya Russell of Waldron, AR & Marty & Karen Russell of Brookland,AR. 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, and a host of family and friends.

Service will be 10 am Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home with Brother Tim and Marty Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with active pallbearers being Eric Russell, Chad Russell, Michael Jones, Aaron Russell, Nick Carter, and Zach Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Catrina Nuckles, Angie Wilkerson, Denishia Buchanan, Mandy Zipfel, Katlyn Milard, Ashley Palmer, Kristy Ohler, and Savanna Russell.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home.
