Joann Grace Brooms, 73, of Jonesboro died Saturday March 8, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 30, 1940 to the late Robert and Blanche Van-Horn Lawson. Joann had lived in Jonesboro most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of Herman Baptist Church and loved her cat Pongo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, Orville Gene Brooms and a brother; Johnny Van-Horn.
Survived by her son; Jim McCaslin and wife Charlene of Bono.
Daughter; Donna Ballew of Jonesboro.
Brothers; Robert Van-Horn of Chicago.
Richard Van-Horn of Kennett, Missouri.
5 grandchildren; Casara Ballew, Chyenne Ballew, Madison Ballew, Daniel McCaslin and Christina McCaslin. 1 Great Grandchild; Jasmine Channell.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday March 11, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Shawn Brandon officiating. Burial will be at Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Monday March 10, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Blake Wilson, Nicholas Runnells, Kevin Warren, Robert Hall, Matthew Britt and Marcus Bailey.
