Joan Geraldine Lunsford

Our sweet mother, Joan Geraldine Lunsford, 89, of Jonesboro, passed away on April 16, 2022. We are sad, but happy that she awoke to find herself surrounded by her large Christian family and friends. She is beautiful again with a body and mind that are completely perfect. We, her children, are so fortunate that she loved us beyond measure. She always worked very hard to provide for her children. She was a sweet, loving mother, sister, and friend to all. She loved the Lord and prayed for hours a day for her family, friends, and those unknown to her. She prayed until she forgot how to pray, but her prayers were never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, John Carl Martin and Ella Marie Scott Martin; sister Betty Martin; son Walter Eugene (Skipper) Edwards; and one grandson, Micah Shane Johnson.

She leaves her children Deidre Edwards (Skipper), Patricia Edwards Dawson (Dave), Martin Lunsford (Melody), and Kymberly Myers (Matthew); grandchildren, Marjorie Edwards (Michael), Heather Edwards Langesworthy (Dustin), Laura Deas, Jeremy Johnson (Joy), Toliver Myers (Mary Quinn), and Weston Myers, plus many great grandchildren; sisters, Carlene Martin White (Harold), Carolyn Martin Wlasuik (Miguel), Linda Martin Rahme; brothers, Ronny Martin (Sylvia), and Larry Martin (Charolett); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews that knew and loved her.

They family would like to give special recognition to the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth’s Place and the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House for taking care of Joan in her time of need.
