Jimmy V. Gann, 61, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at his home of natural causes.

Born in Little Rock, Jimmy moved to Jonesboro following high school graduation to attend Arkansas State University. He worked 32 years and 9 months for the State of Arkansas in the Department of Workforce services and was serving as office manager of the Paragould office when he retired.

Jimmy was an active member of the Ridge Riders Athletic Club. He had a special interest in development of the Greenway for cyclists, runners, pedestrians and family. He was a member of the World Wildlife Fund and was an environmental and conservation enthusiast. Jimmy participated in Ultra Marathons and was preceded in death by his parents, Buren and Melba Bowerman Gann.

Survivors include his life partner, Jolene Wolf of Jonesboro;
One daughter and her spouse, Kimberly and Dane King of Tuckerman;
One son and his significant other, Jason Gann and Annie Svolto of Chattanooga, Tennessee;
One sister, Serine Gann of Bloomington, Minnesota;
Three grandchildren: twins Evelyn and Violet Gann, and Evan King; and Jimmy’s loving canine companion, “Sheena.”

A memorial service will be held Monday evening at 6:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Honorary pallbearers include Gene McDaniel, Mike Hanks and Zeb Carnes. Immediately following the chapel service, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 2907 Asher Cove in Jonesboro. All who knew Jimmy are welcome and encouraged to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be given to the World Wildlife Fund, the NEA Humane Society, or the local greenway project.
