Jimmy Ross Hansley, 64, of Jonesboro passed from this life on July 7, 2014 at NEA Baptist Hospital surrounded by friends. He was born in Newport to the late Ross and Florine Hensley on September 20, 1949. Jimmy retired from the U.S. Navy in 1991. He was a Navy Seal during the Vietnam War, first Gulf War, Operation Nifty Package (capture of Manuel Noriega), and many other unnamed operations. Some of Jimmy’s awards include the Navy Cross, Purple Heart, and the Silver Star. He enjoyed animals especially his Schnauzer Pete Hensley and was extremely generous to all. Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife; Miling Hensley, and his parents; Ross and Florine Hensley.
He is survived by one sister; Sheila Ann Hensley, two nieces, one great nephew, one great niece, and many loving and loyal friends.
A graveside service will be held at Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia at 11:30 a.m. on Friday with Rev. Tommy Miller officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Active Pallbearers will be Ben Black, Hunter Britt, David Trammel, James Lawrence, James Garrison, and Elbert Jones. The Honorary Pallbearer will be Kyle Thomas.
