Jimmy Delton Felkins, 80, of Bono, passed from this life on April 25, 2023 in Jonesboro. Jimmy was born in Paul’s Switch on July 12, 1942 to the late James Earl and Stella Felkins. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife Sharon; sons, Byron Scott and Jamey Felkins; brothers, Teddy and Delbert Felkins; and sister, Bonnie Lou Felkins.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Northeast Arkansas and a member of Bono Church of Christ for nearly 60 years. One of the things he knew best was farming. A lifelong farmer, Jimmy was farmer of the year in 1976 and helped establish the Bono Tractor Club. In his downtime, you could always find him scribbling away on a crossword puzzle. Jimmy was also quite the genealogist. He helped keep track of family records and even traced his family lineage back to John Felkins, who served under George Washington at Valley Forge. Most importantly, Jimmy loved being with his family, especially the time spent watching his grandsons play sports.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Joel Felkins (Stacey) of Bono; daughter, Jennifer Knight (Ronnie) of Walnut Ridge; brother, Leon Felkins (Diane) of Holly Springs, MS; sisters, Doniece Tyler and Earline Hendrix, both of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Garrett, Millie, Wilson, Abby, Tori, Peyton, Cullen, and Riley; and 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Bono Church of Christ with Richard Akins officiating. A visitation will precede the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Burial will be private.
Honorary pallbearers include Heath Hendrix, Tom Dulaney, Cullen Felkins, Riley Felkins, Garrett Felkins, Wilson Felkins, Dale Davis, Mark Mills, and the Bono Tractor Club.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Bono Church of Christ Food Pantry Fund.
