Jimmy Coleman

Jimmy Coleman, 69, of Jonesboro quietly passed on to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 3rd 2008. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; his family was the most important thing in his life.

A huge influence in many people’s lives with his goodness, he owned many businesses throughout his life. From the Donut Shop on Flint St., to Jim’s Pawn Shop on Highland Drive, friends and customers found a smile on his face and compassion and concern for their needs. Never meeting a stranger, his business is his legacy.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Myatt Coleman; two sons, Wayde Coleman and wife Glenda of Oklahoma City, and Scott Coleman and wife Jennifer of Jonesboro; one daughter, Pam Coleman Barton of Jonesboro; one brother, Thurman Coleman of Jonesboro; one sister Dorothy Barber of Jonesboro; and five grandchildren, Aaron Barton, Alex Barton, Jeremy Coleman, Jessika Coleman, and Gabriel Coleman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Effie Martin Coleman; one brother, Vernon Coleman; and one sister, Hattie Inez “Poodle” Lindley.

Services will be Monday at Emerson Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m. with Jeremy Coleman and Ernest Coleman officiating. Entombment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4-6 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Lawrence, Matt Judd, Matt Pettit, Manuel Clark, Scott Coleman, and Andy Myatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Barton, Aaron Barton, Alex Barton, Gabriel Coleman, Alvin Myatt, Dale Barber, and Richard Mangrum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to St. Jude’s or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
