Jimmy Bowman, 67, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, May 05, 2010, at his home of natural causes.
Born in Lake City, Jimmy lived much of his life in the Jonesboro-Lake City area. He was a retired animal control officer for the City of Jonesboro, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a Baptist. Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Bowman, and by his parents, James and Faye Kirby Bowman.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Bowman of the home;
3 sons: Eddie Bowman (Tiffanie Curtis) of Bay, and Tim Kincade (Dani) and Thomas Kincade (Anna), all of Jonesboro;
3 daughters: Rebecca Moore (David) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Aimee DeRossitte (Jay) of Bono, and Kim Ward (Malon) of Madill, Oklahoma;
1 brother, Bobby Bowman (Kay) of Warner Robbins, Georgia;
2 sisters, Patricia Gulley (Stan) of Bay, and Dorothy Higginbotham (Lynn) of Ace, Texas; and
5 grandchildren: Bryce Bowman, Sabrina Bowman, Emily Moore, Hannah Moore and Zac Curtis.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Harold Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Chad Colbert, Jon Hampton, Paul Jennings, Jim Griffin, Sr., Jamie Ramey, and Gregg Jennings.
Honorary pallbearers include John George, Hubert Brodell, Charlie Noel, Brandon Bowen and Larry Johnson.
The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to the staff of Jones Hospice House for the exceptional care and compassion given to Jimmy.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
For lasting memorials the family asks that consideration be given to the St. Bernards Hospice Program.
