Jimmy Ray Barber, 65, of Oakland, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at his home. He was born March 22, 1959 in Jonesboro to Ray Barber and the late Joyce Stubbs. Jimmy was a carpet installer for most of his career. He worked as a corrections officer in Memphis for several years. Jimmy also was a volunteer fireman for many years. Jimmy enjoyed karate, rock music, playing the drums and guitar. Most of all Jimmy loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his father, Ray (Ruthie) Barber; Jimmy is survived by his step-father, JB Stubbs of Oakland; 2 sons, Jimmy Lee Barber of Odessa, Texas, Jesse (Avery) Barber of Atoka, Tennessee; 2 daughters, Kristy (Jeff) Davis of Texarkana, Texas, Kandy Barber of Houston, Texas; 4 brothers, Michael Barber of Oakland, Gary Barber of Memphis, Stephen Walker of Memphis, Calvin Walker of Memphis; 3 sisters, Cheryl (Connie Gellert) Barber of Jonesboro, Stacy (Carlos) Garcia of Memphis, Tracey (Orlando) Routen of Millington; 5 grandchildren: Adam, Jessica, Brayden, Aubreigh, Ariana Rae; 1 great grandchild; 1 step brother, Barry Stubbs of Arlington, Texas and 2 step-sisters, Deborah Wacguespack of Jackson, Mississippi and Sherrie Stubbs of Jackson, Mississippi.
