Jim West, 85, of Jonesboro passed away December 24, 2025 at home with his family at his side. He was born March 23, 1940 in Lake City to Hascle and Bernice Tucker West. Jim was proceeded in death by his parents and grandson, Josh Neal.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Thomas West of the home; daughters Marilyn Neal, of Little Rock, Sandy West of Benton, Tammy McEntire (Ron) of Bono; sons Jimmie West, Jr. of Llano, TX, Larry West and Nate Neal of Harrisburg; sister Ruth Walters (Rick) of Bono; brothers Doug West of Centennial, CO and David West (Linda) of Cotter; grandchildren: Sarrah (Zach) Owens of Bono, Alexis (Seth) Hart of Sedgwick; granddaughter-in-law Charity Neal of Brookland and Jeremy Maree; great-grandchildren: Keaton and Khloe Neal of Hubbard, IA, Hannah and Jaxon Neal of Brookland; Jaxon, Kaisyn, and Kash Owens of Bono and Maggie Hart of Sedgwick.

He spent most of his childhood in Weiner. The family, later, moved to Jonesboro where he graduated from JHS in 1958. He followed in his father’s footsteps and began preaching at the age of 17. After high school, he attended ASU and then completed his bachelor’s degree at Arkansas College in Batesville. He married the love of his life, Polly, March 8, 1974 and they enjoyed 51 years together. He then went on to obtain his masters at Memphis Theological Seminary in Memphis. In 1977, he became an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. He retired in July 2003 from the North Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church after serving 25 churches in 37 years. Since retirement, he served 9 more churches as interim pastor, preaching his final sermon on July 6, 2025.

He loved God, his family, his friends, The United Methodist Church and its many members he served.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
