Jimmie F. Petty, 67, of Lake City, died Friday, October 7, 2011 at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. He had moved to Lake City in 2003 moving there from Manila. He was an Army veteran, having served during Korea and the Vietnam eras. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He had retired from the Postal Service after 31 years of service and enjoyed hunting and fishing and growing a garden. He loved being outside and took great pride in his yard.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Faye Petty of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Stuart & Angela, Jonesboro; daughter, Marsha Petty and her husband, David Cornish, Paragould; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Victor & Sandy Chamness, Evansville, Indiana, David & Carrie Chamness, also of Evansville, Steven & Renee Chamness, Lake City, Randy & Heather Chamness, Blytheville; and sisters, Norma Smart, Manila and Lou Manuel, Paragould; and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo & Lou Erma Parrish Petty; and a brother, Dave Petty.

Funeral services, with military honors, will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Vic Chamness officiating. Family and friends are welcome to speak at the service. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Sunday 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
