Jimmie M. Fletcher

May 15, 1928 — January 6, 2013

Jimmie Mack Fletcher, 84, of Brookland, formerly of Bay, died January 6, 2013, at his home with his family at his bedside. He was of the Baptist belief.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson “Jack” Fletcher and Mary Ada (Davis) Fletcher, 7 brothers: Willis Earl, Vanoy, Edward, Burrell, J.C., Darryl and Kenneth Fletcher, 2 sisters: Mary Lois Wise and Linda Walden.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Catherine (Broadaway) Fletcher; 2 sons, Larry Wayne Fletcher of Brookland and Jimmie Dale (Joyce) Fletcher of Harrisburg; 2 daughters, Barbara June (Steve) Dacus of Jonesboro and Teena Janeena (Mark) Winters of Millington, Tennessee.

Other survivors include 11 grandchildren: Adam (Janice) Fletcher of Jonesboro, Eric Fletcher of Memphis, Angela (Justin) McArthur of Williston, Tennessee, Michael (Judy) Fletcher of Harrisburg, Staff Sgt. S. Matthew (Molly) Dacus of the U.S. Air Force, Mark Dacus of Jonesboro, Mary Beth (Brad) Clark of Jonesboro, Kodee (Amanda) Winters, Kadee (Chad) Winters, Balle (Servando) Winters, and Riley Winters of Millington, Tennessee.

Also surviving are 5 great grandchildren: Drake, Jackson, and Emma Fletcher of Jonesboro, Blane Clark of Jonesboro and Mary Grace McArthur of Williston, Tennessee; 1 sister, Alice Faye Blalock of Jonesboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements with visitation Friday night from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Emerson’s Memorial Chapel conducted by a nephew, Ronnie Fletcher and pastor Larry Ward. Interment will be at Pine Log Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include granddaughters and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a children’s home or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Fletcher was a farmer all of his life and his passion was for being in his garden. He worked on the farm for many different people; he did carpenter work and many other occupations such as being a truck patch farmer. He began working as a man when he was 13 years old and didn’t retire until after his 80th birthday. His last job was being the caretaker at Pine Log Cemetery which he did for 16 years.
