Jimmie Darrell Farmer

July 11, 1945 — March 29, 2011

Jimmie Darrell Farmer, 65, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday at his home. Born in Trumann, he had lived in this area his entire life. He was an electrician and loved working with his son. He had retired but still continued to work until the day he became ill. He liked to fish but his love was his family and he adored his 4 grandchildren. Jimmie had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 2 years, Tammy Tate Farmer of the home. She describes the past 2 years as the best of her life. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Doyle & Tammy Farmer; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Ronnie Coots; a step son, Derek Osborn, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Bobby Joe Farmer, Trumann, Kenneth Dewayne Farmer, Jonesboro, Frederick Forest Farmer, Trumann, Lankford Denton Farmer, Hamilton, Alabama, Curtis Martin Farmer, Jonesboro; and his grandchildren, Matthew Farmer, Holly Farmer, Ariel Coots, Mayzee Coots; and a special nephew, Jeff McElrath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Denton & Lola Mae Duncan Farmer; and a brother, J.R. Farmer.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Jolly and Rev. Alan Rogers officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Army personnel will provide military honors.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Brumley, Larry Johnson, Hubert Brodell, Dale Barnett, Jim Copeland, Andy Ritzmon, the staff of Tec Electric, and Johnny Damron.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Allen Nixon and the NEA Baptist Cancer Treatment Center.
