Jimmie Hubert Adair

April 28, 1944 — February 16, 2023

Jimmie Hubert “Jim” Adair 78, of Jonesboro gained his heavenly wings Wednesday, February 16, 2023 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1944 in San Bernardino, CA to the late James Hubert and Virginia “Kee” Adair.

He was a member of pioneer families of NE Arkansas and the grandson of Joseph and Ida Belle “Hackworth” Adair and  William F. and Mabel “Dacus” Kee.  In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Christal “Dee Dee” Adair.

Jim was a hardworking father, son, brother, grandfather and loved life to its fullest. He was a longtime member of Nettleton Baptist Church and served the church as a deacon and treasurer for years.

Jim learned from being around his father how to interface with the public.   He was never at a loss for words and had a quick -sharp wit.  Jimmie had an impish grin and always loved a good joke. Most of all he loved being with his grandchildren, family and friends.

Jim graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1962. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  After high school he worked as a Railway Agent, Adair Esso Station on North Church St., then bought Joe Riccio’s Pizza Drive Inn on Nettleton Ave. (Jim and Jason Lassiter were legends at tossing pizza and making Pizza Burgers- people still talk about the experience of going to the Pizza Drive Inn and getting a Pizza for $1.00 or a slice for 15 cents – This is where most citizens of Jonesboro ate their first pizza - The Best Pizza in NE Arkansas and the World!). Jim then worked at Central Chevrolet as service manager and retired from Therapy Providers of Arkansas at St. Bernard’s where patients often called him Doc Jim.

His hobbies were duck hunting, Old Westerns Movies (any and all movies), rock n roll music, loved antique cars, fast cars and owned numerous Corvettes over the years.

Survivors include the love of his life Linda Sue Williams who he married August 21, 1966, sons, James (Emily) Adair of Jonesboro and Dr. John (Meghan) Adair of Little Rock, AR., brother Ken (June) Adair of Jonesboro, AR, grandchildren: Quinn Adair, Ivy Adair, Levi Adair and Rebecca “Rosie” Adair.

Jim had a special relation with his in-laws: Maudean (John) Honnoll, Carol (Ron) Roy, Dwight Williams, and Brenda (Royce) Leonard.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10:30 am in Emerson Memorial Chapel with minister Brady Canright and Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 9:30 am prior to the service.
