Jim Spillman, 60, of Jonesboro, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at his sister's home in Jonesboro.
Born in Trumann, Jim grew up in Lake City and was a 1972 graduate of Lake City High School. Following graduation, Jim entered military service and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Jim enrolled in Williams Baptist College where he earned an Associate's degree in nursing. Jim earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and began a 25 year career as a Registered Nurse with a specialty in psychiatric nursing care.
Jim was a certified instructor for training Certified Nursing Assistants primarily for the area nursing home professionals and was also a traveling nurse serving the entire United States. He was an artist and enjoyed live music. He loved animals. Jim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 3 weeks ago.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Ruth England Spillman, 2 brothers: Carl Wayne Spillman and Rickey Spillman, and a dear friend, Joe Hagan.
Survivors include 1 sister, Carletta Spillman Bowers (Gary);
2 nieces and 1 nephew: Monica Shelton (James), Erica McClung (Todd), and Jared Bowers; and 1 great nephew and 3 great nieces: Grant Shelton, Madison McClung, Lauren Shelton, and Carleigh McClung, all of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Funeral services and burial will be private.
