Jim “Pop” Vaughn, 82, of Jonesboro, died January 15, 2021, at the Craighead County Nursing Center. He was born in Black Oak and moved to Jonesboro in 1958. He attended the Bono Church of Christ. He was the founder, owner and operator of J & N BBQ. He loved to cook and enjoyed feeding family and friends. He had a fond attachment to Allis Chalmers and John Deere tractors. His love to fish, camp and being at the river. To Jim, there was only one baseball team and it was the St. Louis Cardinals. He was preceded in death by his parents: WG Vaughn & Era Dean Vaughn; brother, Bill Vaughn, grandchild, Brian Reeves; great grandchildren, Levi Hill, Kennedy Doyle, and Marley Reeves.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Vaughn, of 62 years of the home; sons, Mark Vaughn and wife Gwen of Bono; Barry Vaughn and wife Brenda of Jonesboro; Steve Vaughn and Christina of Little Rock; sisters, Francis Hatch of Lake City; Ramona “Pete” Welch of Little Rock; grandchildren, Brandy (Barry) Doyle; Barry Keith (Kaylynn) Vaughn: Brook (Brock) McFarlin; Tyler (Megan) Vaughn; Natalie (Evan) Dill; Micah (Jason) Arnold; 10 great grandchildren and a special caregiver MaKayla Daniels.
Graveside services will be 2:30 Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers are Tyler Vaughn, Barry Keith Vaughn, Steve Heath, and Brock McFarlin. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 on Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home. Due to COVID, all restrictions and mask will be required.
