James (Jim) Hayes Sr., 85, of Brookland entered into his eternal life on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at his home. He was born March 26, 1931 near Brookland, AR. Jim was a member of Brookland Baptist church, loved gospel music, hunting and fishing with his son, Saturday morning breakfast with his family (and breakfast food in general), watching old Westerns, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always willing to share his testimony and pray with anyone. Jim’s faith in God was apparent to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by a sister, Juanita (Edward) Willey of Brookland; one son, James “Jim” Hayes Jr. (Tina) of Paragould; three daughters, Jerri Maynard (John) of Seattle, WA, Tonya Russell (Tim) of Waldron, AR, and Patsy Bracken (Hank) of Brookland; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hayes is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Minard Hayes; his parents, Brooks and Edith Hayes; one sister, Corky Campbell; and 2 daughters, Liz Thompson and Debbie Smith.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2-4 pm and Funeral Service will be Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10am at Emerson Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Becker, Bro. Tim Russell, and Bro. Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Mr. Hayes’ grandsons: Michael Maynard, Nick Thompson, Aaron Russell, Zach Russell, Kyle Downs, and Payton Futrell. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Riley Hayes and Eli Hayes, and his Sunday School Class “The Pairs and Spares.”
