Jewell Robert Cox

Jewell Robert Cox, 73, of Jonesboro, died Sunday morning at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Jonesboro and was a member of New Harvest Family Worship in Brookland. Mr. Cox loved to fish and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, usually taking them fishing. He lived for God and was very active in his church.

He was a retired groundskeeper for the Jonesboro Country Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Cox; his parents, Burtis & Myrtle Cox; 1 sister and 2 brothers.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Ronnie & Donna Gandy, Jonesboro; Charish Wayne Gandy, Hardy; daughters and sons-in-law, Dale & Ronnie Bridger, Jonesboro; Sharron & Gene Honeycutt, Brookland; Judy Williams, Memphis; his brothers and sisters, Leslie Cox, Flint, Michigan; Gene Cox, Jonesboro; Pauline Tidwell, Bono; Versa Millsap, Jonesboro; and Marie Spencer, Otwell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kim, Jackie, Shea, Scarlett, Jason, Blake, Scott, Vanessa, Susan, Kristy, Steven, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Marty Russell, Rev. Bobby Spencer, Jason Sims, and Blake Williams officiating. Burial will be at Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Bridger, Gene Honeycutt, Blake Williams, Jason Sims, Steven Honeycutt, Cody Black, Mickey Yates, and Trey Carter.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
