Jessie Marie Lassiter

Mrs. Jessie Marie Lassiter, 88, of Jonesboro, died Monday morning at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Nettleton, Jessie Marie lived all of her life in Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and a member of Temple Baptist Church where she was a member of the Forever Young Christians Fellowship Sunday school class. Jessie Marie was a volunteer in the Hospital Auxiliary, serving 5 years at St. Bernards Medical Center and 16 years at NEA Baptist Medical Center. She also volunteered 9 years at SkillCare Nursing Center.

Jessie Marie was preceded in death by her husband, H.V. “Buck” Lassister, by 2 sons, Lonnie Lassiter and Jason Lassiter, by a daughter-in-law: Glenda Lassiter, 3 brothers, Edward, Harrison, and J.W. Wise, and by 3 sisters, Edith Cole, Jamie Kashinski and Lorene Smith.

The family wishes to extend heart-felt thanks to Jessie Marie’s current and past caregivers and to the staff and personnel of the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House and NEA Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Kaylene Lassiter Keith and Marie and Stuart Hahn, all of Jonesboro;

2 sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Helen Lassiter and Faris and Debbie Lassiter, all of Jonesboro;

A daughter-in-law: Eva Smith Lassiter of Jonesboro;

2 brothers, George Wise and Lepoe Wise, both of Jonesboro;

8 grandchildren, Rick Lassiter, Gary Lassiter, Mike Lassiter, Misty Sanders, Brandie Tibbs, Amanda Meredith, Josh Lassiter and Jarrod Lassiter, and

12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include: Carl Wise, Donnie Wise, Josh Lassiter, Jarrod Lassiter, Jeremiah Sanders and Mike Lassiter. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Forever Young Christians Fellowship Sunday school class and the Pink Ladies of NEA Baptist Medical Center.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
