Jesse Lee Gunter

Jesse Lee Gunter, 48, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 10, 1970, in West Memphis to Barbara Perdzock Gunter and George W. Gunter.

Jesse was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Jonesboro. He was active in many of its different programs and projects and chaired the annual fund raiser for the church for many years. He was also a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Jesse was a beloved teacher at Valley View High School in Jonesboro where he taught French and Spanish. He was active in both the school and the athletic program and activities. Jesse was a big supporter of all the young men and women who passed through its doors.

Jesse was preceded in death by his father George W. Gunter. He is survived by his mother Bobbie Gunter of West Memphis; by his four brothers: George Walter Gunter IV (Natalie) of Marion, Richard Gunter (Martha) of West Memphis, Paul Gunter (Janet) of the home, Robert (Andie) Gunter of Evansville, Indiana; 3 sisters: Elizabeth Ann (Bruce) Razer of Cabot, Sister Teresa Gunter, O.S.B. of Ferdinand, Indiana and Margaret Jane Henson (Donnie) of Marion; and nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to mention some very dear and close friends: Sherri Beatty, Miles Beatty, Eric Kahoun, Johnny Shell, Nic Lawson, Caliem Morris, Robert Manefort II, Ashley, Laela and Emma Manefort and countless others.

Visitation and rosary will be at 6:30 p.m.on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Please feel free to wear blue jeans and boots to the visitation in honor of Jesse. Funeral services for Mr. Gunter will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Jonesboro.

The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or School in Jonesboro.
