Jesse Bates

Jesse Bates was born June 3, 1949, to James and Louise Bates in Courtland, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. On May 28, 1993, he married Armer Mays. They moved to Jonesboro, AR and joined Bethesda in 1999 under the late Dr. Rev. Charles Latham. During his time at Bethesda Jesse served as a Deacon as well as on the Finance Committee. Jesse was well loved by every member of the church.

Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, James and Louise Bates, Brother, James Jr., daughter, Aretha Phillip, sister, Doris Christine Norwood, and granddaughter, Chantel Jackson.

Jesse leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Armer Bates, daughters Terri Herbert, Tiffany Herbert, and son Quinton Bates of Minden, LA, Pam Bates of New York, Monique Bates of Leesburg, FL, also Britisha (Louis) Hardin of Lansing IL, Jerome (Rayniecey) Mays of Chicago, IL, and Kenneth (LaDonna) Tate of Atsugi Japan. Jesse had a total of nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Special friends, Greg Jones and nurse Terry White and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 11-12 Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Bethesda Worship and Healing Center. (need to be on the front page of the program.)

Funeral service 12 pm Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Bethesda Worship and Healing Center with Pastor Kenneth B. Thomas officiating.

A committal service will take place at 2pm Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Oakland Memory Lanes Cemetery in Dolton, Illinois.

Active Pallbearers will be Damion Brown, Tavarious Davis, Kenneth Thomas Jr., Sharod Jones, Daishon Fountain, and Courtney Orsby.

Honorary Pallbearers will include: Deacon Claude Daley, Deacon Ellis Moses, Deacon Robert Scales, Deacon Antwan Sanders, Deacon Kenneth Willie, and Deacon Chaimine Jones.
