Jessalyn "Jesse" Kai Phillips

Jessalyn “Jessie” Kai Phillips, age 24, died unexpectedly on August 28, 2011. She is survived by her mother Louise, father Greg, and brother Isaac Phillips, all of the home. Jessalyn was born October 23, 1986 in Las Cruces, New Mexico and has lived in and around Jonesboro since 2003. Jessie was an aspiring vocalist and was studying to become a music teacher. She loved Broadway musicals. Jessie had a flare for poetry and design as well as music.

She was her Papaw’s Valentine. Jessie brought cats and dogs into our lives. Her friends adored her for her enthusiasm, joy of life, and unique sense of humor. She had a close relationship with her brother and loved to watch movies and series with him. She was her father’s muse and enjoyed singing with him. She was her mother’s baby of the family. Her absence leaves a tremendous hole in our lives and an ache in our hearts. We will miss her deeply.

Instead of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to Jessalyn’s Living Memorial at the ASU Foundation, MEMO: “Opera Club Fund,” P.O. Box 1990, State University, AR 72467.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro, AR, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, Kentucky on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 10:00 am. Emerson Funeral home is in charge of local arrangements and Elliston & Stanley Funeral Home will be in charge of Kentucky arrangements.
